When Will You Leave, Mr. Khamenei?
Mr. Khamenei, oh Absolute Ruler! Whatever we wrote until today has had no impact. You do not hear the cries of the people; you do not wish to hear them. Or perhaps you are incapable of hearing them. I don’t know which one is true. But in any case our words have no effect on you, while we do hear your calls and messages, and we read them. We look at your performance. We know, for example, what your expectation is from people who you say are “always in the field”. You want them to approve you in unison. But the reality is something different. So what must we do? Since we have come this far in our state of affairs, is there any other question before us other than: When are you leaving?
We have other questions too, such as till when must they lead your name with “ayatollah?” When will we be able to again write the word republic before the name of our country? Believe me, your honest response will relieve everybody, from the masses to the elite.
Today, it is no longer relevant to discuss the qualifications of a Vali Fagih (religious leader) because we know what the peculiarities of a dictatorial regime are. When your very own representatives expressly say that elections don’t mean anything, and the return of the Prophet is based on inner knowledge (or discovery), not outward conditions or circumstances.
That is ok. You should really come out and openly said that there is no republic in the country. Just say that the 1979 revolution was against the Pahlavi royal family. Just come out and say that the goal of that revolution was for us to replace the monarchy with our monarchy.
Tell us why you praise the people of this land to be aware, courageous and knowledgeable, but the moment we take action to demonstrate our awareness etc, you come out and say, “The elections are over; and there are no problems with it.”
Why do you keep insisting that we, the people, remain alert? The minute we try to demonstrate our awareness in the open, you yell, “Refrain from any words or actions that may incite or create hopelessness. The elected president is respectable and the president of the whole nation and everybody must obey him in unison.”
Mr. Khamenei! When you visit the youth of this nation, you always talk of the visits in sweet and hopeful language and say that “the attention that the youth pays to the issues in the country demonstrates progress and planners of the country must take this into account when designing the future of the country.” But please explain why is it that the moment these very youth raise their calls and speak their hearts, you say, “By realizing this issue, foreigners have targeted the universities and students to disrupt scientific activities.” And then your representatives in the judiciary pass 8 year prison sentences, exile students, or flog them. Please explain why?
Dear Mr. Absolute Leader! When speaking to the public that you say are “always present”, why do call for moderation when people criticize conditions or issues, but when it comes to yourself, you say, “the very next day after the elections a group of people call the great elections a fraud without providing any reasons. Is this a small crime?”
Why do you say, “Elections are for the nation and its results determine the fate of the nation,” but when the views of 13 or 14 million people from this very nation turnout different from yours, they are called dirt, and you remain silent to this insult?
What should this 13 or 14 million people do next when their “awareness and decision” are simply ignored? Why do your agents drive vehicles on people who hold peaceful demonstrations in the millions to mourn the passing of a religious leader or who chant Allaho Akbar slogans on their rooftops, etc.? And you remain silent to these atrocities so that this abuse and violation continues and everybody is arrested and detained, and then tried in kangaroo courts?
Why do you say that elections are for the purpose of understanding the wishes and votes of the people, but then say nothing when it is discovered that ballot boxes were pre-filled with votes?
If you honestly believe that everybody should follow and respect the law, then which law states that everybody must draw a clear line to indicate whether they are with the enemy or with us? Who decides on where this line is when you are a party to this dispute!
You say people have learned by observing campaigns and debates and know that there are no insiders or outsiders in the Islamic order, etc.
Then after a while these debates are stopped. The national radio and television network becomes the spokesperson for those who think like you. You not only not allow Mr. Rafsanjani, who you have said has spent thirty of his recent years serving the country, Mr. Mousavi who was your own Prime Minister for years, or Mehdi Karubi who was your Speaker of the Majlis, or Nategh Nouri who was the head of your inspectorate bureau, etc to appear on this national radio and television network, but even physically attack them.
You have left only one alternative for us, one question: When will you leave? Please note that we are not talking about toppling a regime. The issue is over the domination of a view; the issue is whether the law should rule or not. The question boils down to whether we have a republic or a monarchy.
